Biography

Casey is a Tennessee state licensed physical therapist assistant and athletic trainer who has been in the sports medicine and orthopedic setting for almost 20 years now. While obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a major in exercise science, she worked with the Lady Vols Athletic Training program and travelled with the girls basketball team. Casey started her career in outpatient physical therapy and athletic training here in the middle Tennessee area in 2005. In 2016, Casey went back to school at Volunteer State Community College to earn her degree as a physical therapist assistant. Casey has worked with Dr. Byrd and his physical therapy team since 2017 specializing in rehabilitation of the hip and pelvis for both operative and non-operative patients of all activity levels. Along with her work in the clinic, Casey has contributed to multiple textbook chapters and return to sport protocols and also works as the manuscript coordinator for the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy. As a PTA, Casey specializes in the functional rehabilitation of dancers, equestrians, and rough stock riders.
