Biography

Dr. John Haggart is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and elbow.

His areas of expertise include ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, MPFL reconstruction, cartilage restoration procedures, rotator cuff and other tendon repairs and labral repairs of the shoulder, as well as shoulder arthroplasty.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota and attended medical school at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa, where he won the Henry J. Prentiss Award for Superior Achievement in Medical Gross Anatomy.

He did his orthopaedic surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan and a fellowship in sports medicine at UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Coral Gables, Florida.

During his fellowship, he gained team physician and sports organization experience with the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, Florida International University, Miami-Dade public high schools, Miami Open tennis and the Orange Bowl, providing care for athletes at the professional, collegiate and high school levels. He also previously served as team physician for several high schools while practicing in North Dakota.

He has a specific interest in the advancement of sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery through research, winning the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons’ prestigious Charles S. Neer Award for basic science research in 2017.

Dr. Haggart is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has served as a representative on the Council of Delegates for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and has served on several hospital committees.

In his spare time, Dr. Haggart enjoys golfing, skiing, fitness and attending sporting events and concerts as well as spending time with family and friends.
