Biography

Dr. W. Cason Shirley received his BS in Biology from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, in 2004. He received his MD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2008, graduating with highest honors and election to Junior AOA. His orthopedic surgery residency was completed at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN. Dr. Shirley was elected chief resident for 2012-2013 and, after graduation, joined TOA Columbia (formerly Mid-Tennessee Bone & Joint) in 2013. He is currently the team physician for Columbia Academy and also chair of the Surgery Peer Review Committee, and was the prior chair of the Department of Surgery at Maury Regional from 2023-2025. Dr. Shirley currently serves as the vice-president of the TOA South market. 

Dr. Shirley performs partial knee, total knee, and hip replacements utilizing MAKO robotic surgery. He has been MAKO certified since 2017 and has performed over 2500 robotic joint replacements. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, pickleball, and reading.
