I am extremely pleased with (a) my hip replacement by Dr. Kurtz fourteen days ago and (b) our preliminary examination discussions and (c) the ordered MRIs.
Consultations were quiet and well-informed. He answered all my questions in detail. The MRI looked ugly with a broken/fused/cracked femoral head--resulting in pain and a right leg considerably shorter than the left.
The surgery was on an outpatient basis. Shortly after a relatively quick OR stay, Dr. Kurtz updated my wife regarding its success. And a success it was: I'm currently walking with the help of a walker. Five (to date) physical therapy sessions at TOA have been helpful. There's no discernable difference in the length of my legs.
Three notes: (1) My wife is a retired wound care RN. She's very pleased with my now almost healed incision. (2) Dr. Kurtz was referred to me by my General Practitioner, who, over the years, has referred me to few different medical specialists. My GP's referrals have always been to exceptional doctors in their various fields (for which I was always very pleased). His referring me to Dr. Kurtz continues those exceptional referrals at 100%. (3) I'm very grateful to Dr. Kurtz, his staff, and to the many kind medical professionals at Saint Thomas Hospital for Special Surgery, Ascension Saint Thomas and TOA.
