Biography

William E. Carpenter, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement.

Dr. Carpenter graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Internship and Residency at Emory University. Dr. Carpenter completed his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at New York University’s (NYU) Hospital for Joint Disease and the Insall Scott Kelly (ISK) Institute in New York City, NY. While in New York, Dr. Carpenter received extensive training in robotic hip and knee joint replacements, earning certifications in both procedures. He also specialized in minimally invasive direct anterior hip replacements and outpatient joint replacements.

Dr. Carpenter holds active memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHS), and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR). He has published multiple Orthopaedic articles and is a frequent presenter on innovations in joint replacement techniques at conferences nationwide. In addition to his clinical research interests, he has written numerous book chapters focusing on Orthopaedic care in the emergency room setting.

Dr. Carpenter’s other interests include golf, fly fishing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and Auburn football.
