Biography
Dr. Stacia Ruse is a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon with expertise in the treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. She specializes in both surgical and nonsurgical management of fractures, nerve and tendon injuries, arthritis, and complex upper extremity trauma. Dr. Ruse is passionate about restoring function and helping patients return to the activities they love through individualized, patient-centered care.
A graduate of The College of William and Mary, Dr. Ruse earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Neuroscience and Kinesiology & Health Sciences, graduating summa cum laude. During her time there, she was a NCAA Division I gymnast and team captain for the women’s gymnastics team.
Dr. Ruse earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan, where she served in multiple leadership and committee roles and was recognized for her clinical excellence and research contributions. Following residency, she completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Ruse has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on topics in orthopedic and hand surgery, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, and compartment syndrome. Her research on pregnancy in orthopedic residents was recognized with a podium presentation award at the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) Midwest Research Symposium.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three daughters, especially at a nearby park or new restaurant. When she's not at work or with family, you can usually find her at one of the local Nashville gyms or running/biking in her neighborhood.
