Types of Hip Preservation Surgery and Treatment
- Hip Arthroscopy: Surgical procedure that enables use of a scope to view the hip joint without making a large incision. Arthroscopy is used to diagnose and treat a wide range of hip issues.
- Acetabuloplasty: A procedure that corrects pinching from an over covered or enlarged hip socket by shaving down excess bone.
- Femoral Osteoplasty (Femoroplasty): Surgical procedure to correct an abnormally shaped femoral head or neck by shaving down excess bone.
- Labral Repair: Surgical procedure to repair a labral tear and return hip function.
- Microfracture: Common surgical procedure that works by creating tiny fractures in the underlying bone to develop new cartilage.
- Labral Reconstruction: Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to repair the damaged labrum, partially or fully, with a graft.
- Gluteal Tendon Repair: Surgery that repairs the gluteal tendon by suturing it back on to the greater trochanter.
- Hamstring Tendon Repair: Surgical procedure to reattach the torn hamstring back to its original position.
- Iliopsoas Tendon Lengthening: An arthroscopic procedure that lengthens a tight iliopsoas tendon that is causing pain and dysfunction.
- Chondroplasty: Minimally invasive surgical procedure used to repair damaged cartilage.
- Hip injection: An injection of medication to potentially relieve pain and inflammation.
- Physical Therapy: Type of therapy that promotes or restores movement and manages pain.
- Hip Synovectomy: An arthroscopic surgery that removes the inflamed tissue in the hip joint.
- Cartilage Restoration: Variety of surgical techniques to repair cartilage such as microfracture, abrasion arthroplasty, and osteochondral autograft/allograft transplant.
